The motorcyclist received life-threatening injuries in the crash which happened at a round 1am on Thursday morning.
As a result, the motorway had to be closed for several hours during the morning rush hour whilst police investigated what happened.
The 50-year-old rider died after colliding with a car on junction 24 at 1am on Thursday morning.
Police say the decision to close the motorway was not taken lightly- there was another incident at the bridge at Scammonden between junctions 22 and 23 at the time.
Officers are continuing enquiries in the Scammonden Bridge area of the M62 after attending there at around 5am this morning.
They've thanked drivers for their patience.
