Appeal For Information After Shipley River Death
An investigation is well underway after the body of a woman was found in the River Aire.
A post mortem is due to be conducted later to determine the cause of death of the woman who is believed to be in her early 20's and from the Bradford area.
She was found at around 10am this morning (July 19) by specialist officers who were searching the River Aire in Shipley following information which was supplied to Police yesterday suggesting she had got into difficulties there.
The girl had entered the water just after 1.45am on Monday morning with another man who was able to get out safely.
Detectives are now appealing for help from the public in investigating related reports of two burglaries in the same area in the early hours of Monday.
One of the offences was reported to have occurred at around 12.40am at a flower shop on Bingley Road and the other is alleged to have taken place at the Boathouse pub on Victoria Road at about 1.45am
Officers would like to hear from anyone who may have seen suspicious behaviour near these premises at either of these times.
Two Bradford men aged 25 and 30 have been arrested in connection with one of the alleged burglaries at the flower shop and are in custody.
Chief Inspector Mabs Hussain said: "This is clearly a tragic incident in which a young woman has lost her life and we are appealing for help from the public in establishing the circumstances of what has happened.
"We are investigating reports of burglary which we believe are linked to this incident and would ask anyone who saw suspicious behaviour near the Boathouse pub in the early hours or near the premises on Bingley Road to contact Police as soon as possible."
