£4.4m Revamp of A&E at The Heath

Wales' Health Minister says patients should see improvements at Wales' busiest hospital after A&E was redesigned.

The work started in April 2103 and cost £4.4m.

The department is one of the busiest in the UK with more than 135,000 people attending every year - the equivalent to 370 people seeking help every day.

Staff say the new set up will help them to care for patients better.

Mark Drakeford said he's impressed with the revamp: "Not just the level of equipment available here, the way the space has been designed but that sense of a building that's working for you rather than having to fight it every day to provide a service."

Nurse Sharon O'Brien hopes people will see a difference: "I hope that patients will feel the environment is brighter, I hope they feel they have more dignity, the cubicles are more fit for purpose, they're light and airy."
