Police say they're growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of a missing Southampton man.

David Vane, 45-years-old, was last seen at around midday on Monday 16 September when he left his home address in the Shirley  area of the city with the family's dog.

David is described as a white man, 5ft 8 tall, Skinny build, scruffy uncut brown hair and with a full beard.

He was last seen wearing a khaki army style waterproof jacket, black trousers, black jumper and sand colour desert boots. He was possibly carrying a Berken back pack and a bag that is worn across the body.

The dog is a black and tan Jack Russell with only one fang tooth and a red lead.

Inspector Philip Lamb said:

"We are concerned for the welfare of David as it is out of character for him to leave the house and not make contact with his family.

"We believe he may have travelled to the New Forest area and could be camping.

"Could I please ask anyone in the New Forest or Southampton area to keep an eye out for David and if you believe you have seen him please contact the police so we can ensure he returns home safely."

Anyone with any information should contact Hampshire Constabulary by calling 101.
