Post Box Thefts In East Hampshire

At around 11pm on Monday, March 26 two men were seen with their vehicle, a silver Vauxhall Corsa, next to a post box at the junction of Mill Lane and Village Street in Sheet, near Petersfield.

The informant cycled past them and became supicious.  The two men then drove away in their vehicle.  The informant then returned to where the men had been to discover the the post box was missing.  

There have been five similar incidents since the beginning of March 2012.

Post box stolen between March 6 and March 7 at Durleigh Marsh 
Post box stolen between March 23 and March 24 at Fensham Lane, Farnham
Attempted theft of post box between March 23 and March 24 at Picketts Hill,  Bordon 
Post box stolen between March 23 and March 24 at Hollywater Road, Bordon
Post box stolen between March 24 and March 26 at Pond Road, Bordon 

PC Craig Shears, said: “The thefts and attempted theft appear to have taken place overnight.  I am appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in these areas at these times, to get in touch. 

“The offenders are getting away with not only the entire contents of the post boxes, but also the Royal Mail post boxes themselves which have a value from around £200.  

“If you see anyone acting suspiciously, please contact us immediately.”
