Police are appealing for information after a man was left with permanent damage to his eyesight following an incident in Portsmouth.
At some time between 8.20pm and 9pm on Tuesday, September 27 the 30-year-old victim was walking along Hampshire Terrace when he was hit by an egg which was thrown from a passing vehicle.
The victim has been left permanently partially blind in his left eye as a result of this incident.
PC Lucy Allan, said:
"Those that committed this crime may have thought it was a silly prank, but their actions have resulted in the victim receiving permanent damage to his eyesight. This has had a detrimental effect on his life and may affect the sort
of jobs he undertakes in the future.
"The area where this incident occurred is a lively and busy part of Portsmouth, especially at the time of day the incident occurred at. There were lots of people in the area going about their daily business. I am urging anyone with any information to
come forward. Did you see the vehicle that the egg was thrown from? Did you see anyone in the vehicle? Or have you overheard anyone talking about committing this crime?
"I would urge anyone with any information to come forward and help us find the person or people responsible."
