Officers have released a CCTV image of a person they would like to speak to in connection with the assault in the Sir Alec Rose public house in Port Solent on Saturday 14 September.
At about 11.00pm, a 35-year-old man had walked back into the bar from the upper floor area, when he was set upon by the suspect in a completely unprovoked attack.
The victim was left with heavy bruising and suspected broken ribs after being thrown into a table and chairs.
