Police in Portsmouth are investigating a big fight, which left a man badly hurt.
The 27-year-old from Portsmouth was hurt during a fight involving a number of men outside a Southern Co-operative store in Sultan Road in Buckland.
The victim received head and serious facial injuries, which were not life-threatening, in an assault that occurred between 11.15pm and 11.45pm on Saturday 31 August.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Jackie Foley said:
"Initial enquiries suggest a number of people stopped to assist the victim so we are appealing for them and any other witnesses to come forward.
"We believe all those involved in the fight itself knew each other and that this was not a random attack."
