Man Charged Over Level Crossing Attack
A man has been charged after two men attacked a man as he waited in his car at a level crossing in Southampton.
The victim was waiting at the level crossing at Mount Pleasant Road in his car at about 10am on Tuesday, September 20 when two men approached and assaulted him while he was in the car. He managed to get out of the vehicle but was attacked
further and fell to the ground.
£1500 was stolen from the car during the attack and the 38-year-old victim needed treatment and stitches at Southampton General Hospital for his injuries.
Police don't believe this was a random attack.
Yasin Mahmud, aged 36 from York Close in Southampton was charged with Wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He has since appeared before Southampton Magistrates Court where he has been remanded in custody to appear at the city's crown court on November 17. Another man aged 34 who was also arrested has been bailed while enquiries continue until October 5.
