Man Attacked By Gang In Southampton

A 27 year old man's been attacked as he walked to meet his girlfriend in Southampton.

He was walking along South Front near Palmerston Road between 12.30am and 1..30am on Saturday. March 19, when a group of youths, made up of four men and two women, approached him.

One of the men then threw a bottle of beer at the victim who went to walk away, however he was hit in the back of the head, fell to the floor and was kicked and punched by other men.

He was also hit in the face with a bottle. They also tried to take his bag, however the victim managed to get up from the floor and ran away through Houndwell Park. He was chased for a short while but they then gave up.

It’s believed the two women were trying to get the men to stop the attack.

The male youths are described as all being around 20-year-old and 5ft 10 inches tall and of medium build. Three were white and the other one is described as looking oriental in appearance. One man was wearing dark clothing and another a white jacket.

The two females in the group are said to be black.

The victim was luckily not too badly hurt and only suffered bruising. Officers are keen to trace those responsible and are appealing for witnesses
