Police are making a fresh appeal for information as they continue to investigate a report of an attack on a man in Portsmouth.
A 19-year-old was assaulted in Fawcett Road at around 8.40pm on Wednesday April 20th 2011. The assault was reported to police on May 3rd 2011 after the victim had received treatment in hospital.
Three men, aged 18, 22 and 25, all from Portsmouth, were arrested on May 25th 2011 on suspicion of assault and released on police bail until July 19th 2011 pending further enquiries.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Jackie Foley of Portsmouth CID said:
“Police remain determined to identify two more men we believe were involved in what happened. This was a nasty group assault that left a 19-year-old with facial injuries and a broken jaw.
“The victim and three of his friends were walking along Fawcett Road heading south to a nearby Co-op store. He had become slightly separated from his friends and was walking behind them. As they passed a group of men and one woman, it’s alleged the victim was assaulted.
“Detectives are now in a position to release CCTV images of other people we wish to trace as part of this investigation. The CCTV is from the Co-Op store on Fawcett Road during the night of the alleged assault. I’m appealing for these men or anyone who knows them to contact police.”
