Broken Spinnaker Tower Lift Staying Put

It looks like the broken glass lift on side of the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth is never going to be fixed.

In the 6 years since the landmark opened, the lift has never worked properly.

Portsmouth City Council have considered removing it or repairing it, but to keep costs down they've now decided to just to leave it as it is.

In a report, the council said:

"The City Council agree to take no further action in relation to the permanent non-operation of the external lift."

Leader of the council Gerald Vernon-Jackson added:

"We have attempted everything we can to ensure that the lift would work the way we want it to, but no solution has been found so we will now negotiate over what happens next."
