Appeal After Woman Attacked In Southampton

Detectives in Southampton are appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted as she walked home from buying a loaf of bread in Southampton.
It happened on Dyer Road in Shirley at around 9.30pm as she walked back towards her home from the Bargain Booze shop. She was hit to the back of the head and face as after she passed a small group of people. It’s believed she lost consciousness
during the attack.
It happened on Friday, May 13 but it has only recently been reported to the police.
Officers have been carrying out house to house enquiries in the area.
The 49-year-old victim is still recovering from her injuries and has been traumatised by what happened.
Detectives are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the woman around that time of the attack, in particular they are keen to trace the small group of people that were in Dyer Road or anyone else who saw or heard anything suspicious
in the area on the evening of Friday, May 13.
The victim is described as having dark hair and was wearing denim jeans and a purple blouse at the time and was carrying a carrier bag.
