An 9-year-old boy's recovering from serious injuries after he was hit by a car in Portsmouth.
The schoolboy was knocked over by a blue Skoda Octavia while crossing Chatsworth Avenue in Cosham, at around 8.40am on Wednesday October the 12th.
He was taken by ambulance to Queen Alexandra Hospital with fracture injuries.
The driver, a 26-year-old man, was shaken but uninjured.
Chatsworth Avenue was closed at its junctions with Dovercourt Road and Pitreavie Road until about 11am.
Sergeant Shaun Hopkins from the Fratton Roads Policing unit said:
“Chatsworth Avenue is a 20mph limit route. From our initial enquiries it looks as though the boy was struck after running out into the road.
"We’re continuing to build a picture of exactly what happened, however, so I’d still like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt Hopkins at Fratton police station, quoting Operation Barbour, on 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers charity 0800 555 111.
