A teenager has been arrested after a car with a dog inside was allegedly stolen from a city street.
The two-year-old Beagle was in a silver Honda CRV which was taken from Willowbank Row in Edinburgh at about 12.25pm on Friday.
The dog was found unharmed in Redbraes Place at about 2pm by a member of the public who contacted officers, and the pet was reunited with its owner.
Police Scotland said a 16-year-old boy has been arrested and charged in connection with the theft of a car. He is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.
Detective Constable Alison Wyllie said: "I want to reassure the public that vehicle crime is completely unacceptable and we are committed to using all resources at our disposal in order to arrest and charge those who take part in this criminal activity.''
