A young woman who died after the car she was a passenger in crashed into a tree has been named by police.
Ashley King, 20, died in hospital following the collision off the A760 near Largs, North Ayrshire, at about 8.30am on Wednesday.
The 21 year-old woman who was driving the grey Seat Ibiza was also taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital but was released after treatment for minor injuries.
Police said the car mounted a grass verge close to Blair Park Farm and collided with a tree.
A number of drivers who were on the road stopped to help and contacted the emergency services.
The family of Ms King, from Kilbirnie, have been informed.
