Plane Evacuated At Glasgow Airport

Passengers and crew were evacuated from a plane preparing for take-off at Glasgow Airport after smoke was detected in the cabin.

The incident happened on a Jet2 aircraft bound for Alicante in Spain at about 7.40am.

One woman passenger received minor injuries as she left the plane. 

A Strathclyde Police spokeswoman said: ``We are currently dealing with an ongoing incident at Glasgow Airport involving a 737 aircraft following reports of smoke within the cabin. 

``Emergency services are in attendance and the passengers have been evacuated as a precaution.

``One elderly woman sustained a minor injury leaving the plane. 

``Inquiries are ongoing.''
