A man's been shot in a residential Glasgow street.

Around 7pm last night, the 28 year old was found with gunshot wounds in Haywood Street in Milton.

He was taken by ambulance to the Western Infirmary suffering from gunshot wounds and is in a serious but stable condition.

Detective Inspector Jim Bradley, North Glasgow CID, is leading the enquiry.  He said: "At this time we are still establishing whether then injured man was the intended target or not. Officers are carrying out door to door enquiries and are checking CCTV to find out who was responsible.

"A short time after the shooting, a Mazda car, believed to be maroon or burgundy, was found burnt out a short distance away in Skirsa Sq, Cadder.  We believe the occupant or occupants were involved in the attack.

"Haywood Street is residential, lots of homes in the area.  It was still quite early in the evening and I am sure that there would have been people about who saw or heard the incident take place.

"Did you see the car speed off from Haywood St or did you see it being set alight in Skirsa Sq or did you see the car anywhere in between?

"It is imperative that we catch those responsible for this attack.  To brazenly discharge a firearm in a residential area is outrageous."

Witnesses can contact police via the non emergency number 101 or call Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111.
