Jodi Jones Killer Fails To Get Jail term Reduced

Luke Mitchell's failed in a legal bid to have his minimum 20 year jail term reduced.

Mitchell was locked up for life in 2005 for the murder of his 14-year-old girlfriend, Jodi Jones in Dalkeith

Jodi was stripped, tied up and stabbed to death, before her body was dumped in woods near her home in June 2003.

Mitchell is 22now but he was 14 at the time of the murder. His appeal against conviction was rejected in 2008.

This latest challenge against the length of his sentence was brought on the grounds that he was a child at the time of the crime.

But senior judges at the Court of Criminal Appeal in Edinburgh today ruled that the 20-year punishment part of Mitchell's sentence should stand.
