A busy city centre street has been sealed off to traffic due to an ongoing police incident.

Several police units are in attendance at Glasgow's West Nile Street following what is understood to have been an assault.

Police Scotland confirmed they were called to the scene, near St Vincent Street, shortly after 4pm on Thursday.

No further details have been revealed by the force at this stage.

A traffic bulletin issued by Glasgow City Council stated: ``Due to an ongoing police incident, West Nile Street has been closed to all traffic from West George Street to St Vincent Street.''
