Girl Accused Of Firing BB Gun On School Bus

A 15-year-old girl has been arrested after allegedly shooting five pupils with a BB gun and assaulting a police officer on a school bus.

The incident is believed to have happened as the bus left the South Lanarkshire school to take pupils home on August 24.

Police said no-one was hurt but the girl has been excluded from school.

She is to be reported to the Scottish Children's Reporter Administration and was arrested in connection with an alleged breach of the peace, common assault, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.

Carole McKenzie, head of education at South Lanarkshire Council, said: "We can confirm that, following an incident, parents were informed the following day by letter and the matter is now the subject of a police investigation."

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that a 15-year-old girl was arrested and is the subject of a report to the Scottish Children's Reporter Administration in connection with an alleged breach of the peace, common assault, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer in an incident which occurred on board a school bus on August 24."
