Gang Could Be Linked To Teen Murder

Detectives investigating the murder of a teenager in Uddingston, say he could've been involved in a fight near a school.

Detectives are continuing enquiries following the murder of an 18 year old man in Uddingston on Saturday 12 September 2015.

Sean Banks from Viewpark was found just after midnight.

Sean's family said:

''We have suffered a tragic loss. Sean will be sadly missed and we would ask that everyone respects our privacy at this time.

From enquiries carried out so far, detectives have identified that Sean may have been involved in a confrontation with a group of youths in North British Road possibly near to the tunnel which passes directly underneath the M74 area prior to his death.

Detective Chief Inspector Gary Boyd from Police Scotland's Major Investigation Team said:

''Around 2240 hours last night there were a number of youths who were near the entrance to St John the Baptist Primary School in North British Road and we believe that Sean may have been involved in an altercation with someone from this group. We are studying CCTV from the surrounding area and would appeal to anyone near the school or in North British Road at this time to contact us.

''A local man has been murdered and I'm sure that local residents will be shocked by that news. However I am sure they hold the key and I am appealing to them to contact us with any information, no matter how trivial it may seem, please pass it on to police.
