Forty firefighters have been called to the scene of a large fire in a disused city church.
Rush hour traffic was disrupted in the east of Edinburgh as a result of smoke billowing from the church on Lower London Road in the capital.
Fire crews were called to the blaze at 4.40pm yesterday and there has been no report of any injuries.
A spokeswoman for Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service said: ``Fire crews are dealing with a well developed fire in a disused church on Lower London Road.
``There are 40 firefighters on scene working to bring the fire under control.
``There is significant smoke from this fire and it has caused disruption to the flow of rush hour traffic in the vicinity of London Road.
``The fire investigations team is in attendance completing their fire investigation reports as to the cause of the fire.''
