Commonwealth Games Arena Opens

The Velodrome for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games will be officially opened today.

The Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome is part of a wider sports complex called the Emirates Arena that cost £113 million to build.

The National Indoor Sports Arena and three full-size sports halls will also be unveiled.

It was named the Emirates Arena in a deal struck with the Middle Eastern airline last week, although the sponsorship will be removed for the duration of the Games.
