Police believe a body found this morning is that of a vulnerable 88 year old woman who has been missing for more than a week.
Janet McKay, who has dementia, left her home in Dykebar Avenue in the Knightswood area of Glasgow on September 16th and has not contacted her family since.
She was last seen on CCTV between 1pm and 2pm that day leaving a bus in Glasgow Road in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire.
Police say a woman's body was found outside in the Clydebank area at about 10.30am today.
Although formal identification's still to take place, officers believe the body is that of Janet McKay and her family has been informed.
A post-mortem examination will be carried out to establish the exact cause of death but the death is not being treated as suspicious.
Officers yesterday revisited the area where she was last seen to speak to pedestrians and motorists in the hope of jogging people's memories about any sightings of her.
They handed out leaflets about Ms McKay's disappearance and also searched nearby gardens.
A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
