Detectives in Paisley are appealing for information after an attempted murder on Saturday 24 September 2016.
At around 8:30pm, a 39 year-old man was walking on Forbes Place, near to its junction with Causeyside Street in Paisley, when he was involved in an altercation with a group who then seriously assaulted him.
The injured man was taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where he is being treated for head injuries.
Hospital staff describe his condition as serious.
Detective Inspector Tom Carty of Paisley Police Office said: "Enquiries are ongoing at this time to gather more information on the circumstances surrounding this incident and those responsible.
"At this time I would urge anyone who witnessed the attack take place, or who has any information that may assist the police investigation to contact Paisley Police Office through 101. Alternatively CRIMESTOPPERS can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained."
