Asad Shah Killer Appeals Life Sentence

The man who murdered Glasgow shopkeeper Asad Shah is appealing the length of his prison sentence.

Tanveer Ahmed was jailed for a minimum of 27 years for pleading guilty to killing the 40 year old.

The taxi driver drove from Bradford to Glasgow before stabbing his victim to death outside his shop in Shawlands in March.

A court heard the killing happened after Mr Shah posted a "Happy Easter" message on Facebook.

In a statement released by Mr Ahmed's legal team, he accused Asad Shah of offending Islam.

His lawyers have now started the process of appealing the length of his jail term.

Judges will now review the case to determine whether the appeal should be continued and a hearing date set.
