3 charged after derby disorder

The 12.30pm kick off was delayed slightly after a pyrotechnic was thrown from one of the stands.

 

Further smoke bombs were set off by fans from either side and a coconut was also thrown on to the pitch.

 

Police had warned fans before the match to behave responsibly and said inquiries are ongoing into a "number of acts of disorder".

 

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Following the Edinburgh derby match on Saturday 6 April, Police Scotland can confirm three men have been arrested and charged in connection with alleged disorder related offences within the stadium including the alleged use of a pyrotechnic device.

 

"Inquiries are ongoing into a number of acts of disorder during the match."

 

Hibs beat Hearts 2-1 in their first victory at Tynecastle since 2013.

 

Earlier this week Scottish Justice Secretary Humza Yousaf vowed action to improve fan behaviour at football grounds after a pyrotechnic was thrown on to the pitch during St Mirren's game against Celtic.

 

The incident, at the Simple Digital Arena in Paisley on Tuesday night, left St Mirren goalkeeper Vaclav Hladky badly shaken and requiring attention from the club's medical team after the missile was thrown from the away end of the ground towards his goal.
