Woman Killed by Car in North Tyneside

A 70 year old woman has died after she was struck by a car in North Tyneside.

She was treated by paramedics after they were called to the A189 West Moor on Thursday. She was taken to hospital but pronounced dead on the arrival.

The driver of a red Audi TT was also taken to hospital and treated for shock.

Northumbria Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
