Tributes Paid To Teen After A177 Death

“He will live forever in our hearts” say the family of a boy who tragically died after being struck by a van.

James Wood, of Coxhoe, Durham was involved in a collision on the A177 between High Shincliffe and Bowburn, at around 4.20am on Thursday, July 12.


He was taken to hospital but sadly the 16-year-old died as a result of his injuries.  

In a statement, his father Jonathan Wood said: “It is with deepest regret that I announce the death of our son, James John wood, affectionately known as Jamesie, who was involved in a road traffic collision in Bowburn. He was a much loved son, brother and grandson and he will be sadly missed. He will live forever in our hearts and our memories.

“We wish to thank everyone for their support and ask to be left so that we can grieve in peace.”

The investigation into his death continues. Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call Durham Constabulary on 101.
