Police Car Set On Fire In Washington

A police officer's been hurt after some youths attacked the police station in Washington in Tyne and Wear

It happened around 3 this morning. A police car was set on fire as well.

A group of six people were seen running away. A 19 year old man and a 17 year old were arrested later.

A police officer working in the station was injured by flying glass. The officer was taken to hospital as a precaution and was released after some treatment on a minor injury.

Northumbria Police say this appears to be an isolated incident and they've not received any further reports of disorder.

They told us "We are however prepared for all eventualities and will respond quickly and firmly to any incidents of disorder or criminal damage"
