Magpies striker Nile Ranger has joined Sheffield Wednesday on loan until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old has already spent time in South Yorkshire this season after linking up with Championship side Barnsley in November, but that spell was cut short following a foot injury in his fifth appearance for the Tykes.
He played for the first time since his recovery on Tuesday night, when he set up both goals for Newcastle Reserves in a 4-2 defeat to Chelsea and successfully came through 90 minutes.
London-born Ranger, who made the second of his 58 Newcastle appearances against Sheffield Wednesday in August 2009, has not started a game for the Magpies this season. He has a total of three goals for United.
In November James Tavernier was loaned out to the Owls, who are third in League One - two points behind local rivals Sheffield United - and boss Dave Jones will hope Ranger can help fire Wednesday to promotion.
