North East Drugs Gang Jailed
Seven people involved in a drugs ring in the North East have been jailed for a total of more than 35 years.
The group of men and women, which included a father and son, had previously pleading guilty to drugs offences.
The investigation centred around trips made to Liverpool between May 2013 and January 2014 and subsequent drug deals taking place in areas including Wylam, Northumberland, Newburn, Newcastle, Hexham, Northumberland and Brampton, Cumbria.
The investigation also involved the search of an industrial unit in Hadrian Road, Wallsend, where officers found evidence that a cannabis farm had been dismantled and destroyed.
DCI Paul Milner, Northumbria Police's Organised Crime Department, said:
"This was a lengthy investigation which pieced together the activity of each member of this drugs ring and ensured they were put before the courts."
"There's no doubt this investigation has prevented a large amount of drugs from reaching the streets of the North East and disrupted the activities of this organised group."
