Bodg, Matt and JoJo will be also be joined on stage by the winners of the annual Children's Christmas Light competition, whose winning designs will be showcased on Nelson Street throughout the festive period.

There will also be a host of entertainment in the build up to make sure the whole city is in the festive spirit.

Also attending the event will be the Lord Mayor of Newcastle, Cllr Margaret Wood.

She told Capital
"We're delighted that we could continue with the Christmas lights this year. It's been a difficult economic year for a lot of people of Newcastle so it's important that we continue this great tradition of kick starting the festive period."
