Man Found Dead By The Side Of Wallsend Road

A man who was found dead by the side of a road in Wallsend has been identified.

He was 28 year old John Robert Gibson, from the Palmersville area of North Tyneside.

The four arrested men aged 20, 22, 23 and 24 are still in custody helping with enquiries.

Police are appealing for information after the body of a man was found at the roadside in North Tyneside.

At 7.15am this morning police were informed of concern for a man lying on the roadside in Kings Road North, near to the entrance to the Rising Sun Park, in Wallsend.

Paramedics attended and confirmed the man had died.

Officers are carrying out enquiries into the circumstances of the man's death. Enquiries are in their initial stages, however, it's thought he may have been hit by a vehicle.

Chief Inspector Jerry Pearson, said: "We're carrying out enquiries in order to establish how the man came to be on the roadside and at the this time believe he may have been hit by a vehicle.

"Officers are in the area to carry out enquiries, and also offer reassurance to residents who may be concerned.

"If anyone has been Wallsend over the past few hours and saw anything out of the ordinary, or any vehicles that appeared to be damaged we would ask them to contact us."
