Man Charged Over Daylight Attack In Middlesbrough

A man's been charged over an attack which happened in a Middlesbrough street in broad daylight.

He faces one count of common assault and two counts of ABH.

He was also charged with criminal damage, driving whilst under the influence of alcohol and using a motorvehicle without insurance.

A man's being questioned by police following an incident on Oxford Road in Middlesbrough at around 4pm yesterday, Monday 11th May.

Officers were initially called to a report of an ongoing assault on a woman in the street.

The woman was found unconscious and was taken to James Cook University Hospital.

She has now been discharged.

The 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape, assault, abduction, taking without consent and driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs.

Police were called to Oxford Road in Middlesbrough at around 4pm after a report of an ongoing assault on a woman in the street.

On police arrival the woman was found unconscious and was taken to James Cook University Hospital via ambulance.

The investigation is currently at an early stage and roads remain closed at the junctions of Oxford Road and Thornfield Road and the junctions of Oxford Road and Roman Road whilst enquiries are ongoing.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and he has been taken to custody.
