Former Little Mix star Jesy Nelson welcomed her twin babies, Ocean Jade Nelson-Foster and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster, with her now ex-fiancé Zion Foster in May 2025, after battling through a high-risk pregnancy.
Their daughters were born premature but were "healthy and fighting strong". When the girls were eight months old, Jesy shared that they had been diagnosed with a rare muscle disease that has irreversible effects.
She said: "After the most gruelling three, four months, and endless appointments, the girls have now been diagnosed with a severe muscle disease called SMA Type 1."
The mum-of-two explained how she was told the girls would likely never walk. Now, after months of campaigning for SMA babies, Jesy has shared a new update on her babies.
Taking to Instagram stories, Jesy said: "So today, I had to go pick up the girls' splints because their feet are pointing down, and they need to be flattened out... It made me really sad."
She then went on to show the adorable splints, with one tiny pink pair with hearts and one tiny purple pair with butterflies.
Holding the baby-sized splints up to the camera she said: "Have you ever seen anything cuter in your life? Look at them!"
Jesy added:"Made me sad though, because I was just like... it's just another reminder."

At the start of January, Jesy had come to social media to share that the twins had been diagnosed with SMA Type 1. She shared that because of the later diagnosis she was told they won't regain the muscles in their necks and will likely never walk.
Jesy explained that these symptoms can be prevented if caught early, saying: "There is no cure for SMA, there's only treatment that can help. It's just frustrating because there's so many children that have been detected from birth because they've had a heel prick at birth, and they've, you know, been detected that they have SMA Type 1.
"And then they've had the treatment, and then these children have gone on to walk, they've gone on to live how children should live."
Since the twins' diagnosis Jesy has been campaigning for the SMA to be tested in babies from birth. She has even sat down with the UK's current Health Secretary Wes Streeting to urge him to make SMA testing a priority.
