Three More Charged Over Rochdale Christmas Murder

A teenager and two men have been charged, after a man was stabbed to death at a Christmas Day party in Rochdale, where another man was also assaulted.

18 year old Ashaun Townsend from Moston, is charged with murder, violent disorder and grievous bodily harm.

23 year old Clarence Edwards of no fixed address and 22 year old Anthon Barnett, from Southport are charged with violent disorder.

All three appeared before Manchester City Magistrates' Court today, Wednesday 21 March 2012 and were remanded in custody.

18 year old Tremaine Lee from Moss Side and 19 year old Derico Smith from New Moston were previously charged with murder, violent disorder and GBH.

Both were remanded in custody.

Last week, eight people were charged and remanded in custody following an investigation by Greater Manchester Police into the fatal stabbing bringing the total of those now charged to 13.

At about 2.40am on Christmas day morning, police were called to Sinclair's Bar on Drake Street, Rochdale, following reports of a fight.

There 31 year old John Lee Barrett, was stabbed, he died later in hospital.
