A man who sneaked into a family home in Irlam before raping a 13-year-old girl has been jailed for 13 years.
Kenneth Knowles, 29, knew the victim's parents and got into their home in October 2011 without them knowing.
When everyone was asleep he sneaked into the teenage girl's bedroom and raped her.
Detective Constable Nicola Wood, of GMP's Serious Sexual Offences Unit, said:
"A girl of just 13 years old was sleeping soundly in her bed at home when Knowles entered her address without her knowledge and raped her.
"This appalling crime and the impact it has had on the victim is incomprehensible to contemplate.
"Knowles refused to admit his guilt so I must credit her unwavering bravery in supporting the prosecution that has today seen a dangerous sex offender jailed."
