Adam Gough was last seen during a night out and his body was pulled out of the River Mersey near to Princess Parkway in Northenden on Monday afternoon

The last sighting of Adam was on the evening of the 9th of March at the Crown pub on Ford Lane, Northenden, where he was celebrating his 44th birthday.

Detective Chief Inspector Colin Larkin, of south Manchester CID, said: " those closest to him are understandably distraught by what has happened and are desperate to know what happened to him.

"All we know at the moment is when he was last seen and when he was found, leaving us with a window of more than 48 hours where his movements are unaccounted for.

"We need to piece this jigsaw together and I am eager to hear from anyone who saw or spoke to him at any point between Friday evening and Monday afternoon.

"Adam has also suffered an unexplained head injury at some point and while we do not wish for people to speculate, we are making inquiries to establish how this has happened.
