Coronation Street actor Michael Le Vell will stand trial in September on child sex charges after appearing in court in Manchester.

The 48-year-old, who plays car mechanic Kevin Webster in the soap, is accused of 19 offences including six counts of raping a child, six allegations of indecently assaulting a child and seven counts of sexual activity with a child.

They all relate to one complainant and are alleged to have happened between 2001 and 2010.

Le Vell, whose real name is Michael Turner, will enter a plea on May 17th.

The father of two has already stated that he's innocent and will fight the allegations through the courts.

A full trial is expected to start in early September.

ITV has said he will not be appearing in any further episodes of the soap pending the outcome of legal proceedings.
