Man Missing In Rochdale Mill Fire

A man remains unaccounted for after a mill fire in Rochdale.

The fire broke out at Sartex Mill on the Halfpenny Bridge Industrial Estate around 6pm on Wednesday evening.

Four people were evacuated as 50 fire-fighters tackled the blaze at the mill, which manufactures bedding and textiles.

Fire-fighters say they think the fire, which has gutted the mill, was started accidentally and say they hope to carry out a full search of the building later.

A spokesperson said: "We have one man unaccounted at the moment but we're not able to start a full search of the mill until the fire is fully out. At then moment 20 fire officers are still dampening down the blaze."
