A man has been jailed for 18 years for trying to kill his ex in Bamber Bridge.
42 year old Andrew Bailey, of Meanygate in Bamber Bridge was found guilty after a trial at Preston Crown Court.
He had earlier pleaded guilty to wounding, but was convicted of attemped murder .
In October 2011, police got a call to say a woman had been stabbed off Brownedge Road, close to the roundabout near the A6 at Bamber Bridge.
The 42-year-old woman had been stabbed five times and suffered serious injuries to her stomach and neck as well as a punctured lung. She also had a number of defence wounds to her arms.
Sgt John Entwisle said: “The victim was lucky to have survived this vicious attack. Although Bailey pleaded guilty to a lesser offence he still made the victim go through the ordeal of a trial.
“Incidents of this nature are fortunately rare in Lancashire but violence of any type will simply not be tolerated and we will continue to do all we can to prevent it and bring offenders to justice.”
