An investigation has been launched by police in Tameside after a man was found dead at a house on Colborne Grove.
Officers were called to the property at around 2.30pm when they received a report of a concern for welfare about a 58-year-old man. Police attended and found he had suffered a head injury.
A post mortem is due to take place to establish the cause of death. A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning.
Detective Chief Inspector Denise Worth of Tameside CID said: "This incident is in its early stages, but I want to reassure the people of Hattersley that we do not believe this was a random incident. We have placed high visibility patrols onto the nearby streets in an effort to provide a visible presence and we have a team of detectives working to establish the full circumstances.
