Hangbag “Stolen” From Longsight Death Crash Site

A man has been arrested after a handbag was stolen from a dead woman as her body lay in the road following a road traffic collision.

The 46-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of theft and remains in police custody.

62 year old Sarwari Ashraf, from the Longsight area, was killed while crossing Upper Brook Street, in rush hour traffic last Thursday.

A 40-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving has been bailed pending further inquiries until May 2012.
