Fire At Alderley Edge Bar 'Suspicious'

Police have told Capital a fire which has caused massive damage to a bar in Alderley Edge, which is popular with celebs and footballers, is being treated as suspicious.

As many as fifty crew ended up dealing with the fire at Panacea, which broke out at around 1030pm on Tuesday.

Cheshire Police say the roof of the building, which has been used as both a bar and a restaurant, is all but destroyed.

No-one was inside at the time and nobody was injured.

The building, which opens as a club on a Friday and Saturday night, is popular with Premier League footballers like Wayne Rooney and Joe Hart.

Capital's been told two people were seen arriving in a dark coloured vehicle moments before the fire broke out.

They were seen walking towards the building and then leaving in the car.

Detective Inspector Robert Hassall said: "We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw a dark coloured BMW or Audi shortly before 10.30pm."
