Escaped Murder Convict Arrested in Manchester

A convicted murderer who went on the run while on day release from prison has been arrested in Manchester.

Brian Lynch was sent to prison in 1988 for killing 21-year-old Chi Yeung Yip in Clayton, Manchester.

But the 44-year-old fled from Preston city centre last Thursday while he was on a day trip from HMP Kirkham.

He was arrested last night in Gorton.

A 40-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of harbouring an escaped prisoner.
