Two men have been arrested after shots were fired in Moss Side after the Caribbean carnival.

GMP's Major Incident Team made the arrests this morning in Baguley and Fallowfield with the help of the Tactical Aid Unit.

The men, aged 24 and 30 - are being held on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a firearm.

It's after 12 people needed hospital treatement when shots were fired during an onofficial street party in the early hours of the morning following the Caribbean Carnival.

Police say they were on the scene just a minute after receiving the call.

Detective Chief Inspector Colin Larkin, who is leading the Major Incident Team investigation, said: "Since this dangerous attack we have trawled through all available CCTV and intelligence to try and piece together the events of that morning.

"Today our investigation has led us to the arrest of two men and we will continue to question them in relation to the shooting.

"Our priority is, and will continue to be, to find those responsible.

"I would still urge the community to come forward with information as our investigation does not stop here. If you know anything, then please tell us."
