Old School Inspo! 15 Of Today's Stars CLEARLY Inspired By The World’s BIGGEST Icons

There's no doubt that the biggest celebs have a lot of style and stage presence, but sometimes you can't help be notice a bit of an older influence at work! Join Capital as we take a look at some of the top stars and work out which stars just MAY have influenced their look and fashion!

    1. Kardashians Vs. S Club 7

      1. 1. The Kardashian Family And... S Club 7?

Bear with us - but when the Kardashian clan rocked up to Kanye West's album launch party in these snow white matching outfits ALL we could think about was S Club 7's iconic 'Never Had A Dream Come True' music video. TOTAL CHEESE!

    2. Pop Stars Out Of Time: Martin Garrix and Michael J

      2. 2. Martin Garrix And Michael Jackson

When Martin stepped out onto the MTV EMAs 2015 red carpet in Milan in October the FIRST thing that comes to mind is how his fashion choices are CLEARLY influenced by the King Of Pop himself and we LOVE it. There's definitely worse fashion idols to have, Mr Garrix! Picture: Getty

    3. Cheryl Cole and Barbara Streisand

      3. 3. Cheryl Cole And Barbra Streisand

Cheryl went back to the sixties for her 'Under The Sun' music video, rocking a hefty beehive hairstyle and dressing in true flower power style... much like iconic vocalist Barbra Streisand back in her heydey.

    4. Chris Brown and Michael Jackson

      4. 4. Chris Brown And Michael Jackson

Take one look at Chris Brown's 'Fine China' music video and just try to deny that Michael Jackson's 'Billie Jean' doesn't immediately spring to mind. From the shirt and bow-tie to the exposed angles and, of course, those near-perfect dance moves... it's clear that Chris was echoing the King Of Pop when he filmed this one.

    5. Pop Stars Out Of Time: Girls Aloud and The Supreme

      5. 5. Girls Aloud And The Supremes

Girls Aloud may be no more but they'll always be remembered for their wide array of hits and amazing dance moves. The girls even seemed to pay tribute to world-famous sixties Motown act The Supremes in their video for 'The Promise', bringing the glitzy show dresses and mirrored dance moves back into the new millennium.

    6. Pop Stars Out Of Time: Justin Timberlake and Frank

      6. 6. Justin Timberlake And Frank Sinatra

JT has always been a pretty cool guy... but his return in 2013 with new album 'The 20/20 Experience' saw him bringing a whole new level to his A-game! Justin's video for 'Suit & Tie' makes it crystal-clear that someone's been looking back at old Ratpack videos of legendary crooner Frank Sinatra... and bringing some 40s class into the 21st century.

    7. Pop Stars Out Of Time: Taylor Swift and Doris Day

      7. 7. Taylor Swift And Doris Day

The '22' singer has an impeccable sense of style and showmanship, and her 50s style dresses always seems to echo Hollywood starlets like Doris Day - with her red carpet style gowns and immaculately styled hair.

    8. Pop Stars Out Of Time: The Wanted and Backstreet B

      8. 8. The Wanted And Backstreet Boys

The Wanted showed their appreciation for boy bands past in the music video for 'Walks Like Rihanna', and their impersonation of Backstreet Boys was worryingly good. Anyone else hoping the boys bring their costumes along for the 'Word Of Mouth' tour next year?

    9. Pop Stars Out Of Time: Lady Gaga and Joan Jett

      9. 9. Lady Gaga And Joan Jett

The 'Applause' singer and famous 80s rockstar Joan Jett have a lot in common rally, their punk sensibilities, their love of rock 'n roll... and having an inordinate number of leather jackets in their closets! #ILoveRockNRoll

    10. One Direction and Jail House Rock

      10. 10. One Direction And Elvis Presley

Elvis Presley is called 'The King' for a reason... and his 'Jailhouse Rock' music video has a small part in this. So it seemed only fitting that One Direction paid tribute to the 'A Little Less Conversation' star by recreating the video for their hit 'Kiss You'... just as they were poised for global pop domination.

    11. Beyonce and Whitney

      11. 11. Beyonce And Whitney Houston

You only have to look at these pictures to see the similarities between Beyonce and the late (and great) Whitney Houston - just check out that hair. Between their similar style and their INCREDIBLE diva-like voices... it's a pretty safe bet to say that Beyonce may just have been a Whitney fan in her younger days.

    12. Dizzee Rascal and Eurthymics

      12. 12. Dizzee Rascal And The Eurythmics

This one's just a bit of a laugh, but Dizzee's new video for 'I Don't Need A Reason' seems to have been inspired by a completely different century to his pop peers. Maybe the 'Bonkerz' rapper is a secret fan of the Eurythmics... who dressed up Edwardian style for their 'Walking On Broken Glass' video back in the nineties.

    13. Adele and Dusty Springfield

      13. 13. Adele And Dusty Springfield

You only have to watch Adele performing live on stage to feel an echo of legendary soul singer Dusty Springfield. Everything from their stage hairstyles to their love of elegant and sophisticated dresses feels similar, and the fact they have two of the most moving voices in music doesn't hurt this comparison either.

    14. Grace Jones and Miley Cyrus

      14. 14. Grace Jones And Miley Cyrus

Ever-controversial pop star Grace Jones pointed out in September this year that stars like Miley Cyrus seem to be following or copying some of her trail-blazing style choices over the years. We can’t help but think she MAY well be right on this one, though we reckon it’s definitely a case of imitation being the sincerest form of flattery, Grace. Picture: Getty

    15. Bruno Mars and The Temptations

      15. 15. Bruno Mars And The Temptations

Bruno has undergone a bit of a transformation over the past year, returning with new album 'Unorthodox Jukebox' and opting for a new look of bright suits and on-stage dance routines with his band. There's no doubt the 'Treasure' star has been inspired by legendary Motown act The Temptations... and we're expecting a cover of 'My Girl' any day now.
