As Rihanna and Drake reunite for the video for 'Take Care', Capital looks at some of the most high profile celebrity splits.
Rihanna and Drake were widely rumoured to have briefly dated back in 2009 but despite their still unconfirmed relationship coming to an end the two have continued to work with each other ever since. Canadian rapper Drake featured on RiRi's 'Loud' hit single 'What's My Name?' in 2011, which topped the charts worldwide, while Rihanna returned the favour this year on Drake's tender new single 'Take Care'.
'California Gurls' singer Katy and Gym Class Heroes front man Travie McCoy shared a year-long relationship before their eventual split in December 2008. The 'Stereo Hearts' singer recently said there were "no grudges" between the two artists and is said to have been there for Katy following her separation and divorce from husband Russell Brand.
N-Dubz stars Tulisa and Fazer finally confirmed they were in a relationship with each other back in mid-2011 but have since split up after reports emerged in January that their relationship was over. Despite the break-up, Fazer has said he is still working with The X Factor judge on her debut solo album, confirming he has produced one of her singles, and band mate Dappy has promised N-Dubz will reunite at some point down the line.
After starring opposite Cheryl in the music video for her single 'Parachute', Dancing With The Stars regular Derek Hough was widely reported to have begun dating the former The X Factor judge in summer 2010 following her separation from footballer husband Ashley Cole. While reports of a split soon followed, the once-rumoured couple have been spotted out together at several social events, most recently at a Coldplay concert in Los Angeles at the start of the year.
While the identity of the ex-boyfriend who inspired Adele's record-breaking sophomore album '21' has never been revealed, it's clear he made a big impact on the 'Someone Like You' singer's life as well as her music. Despite the obvious influence he had on songs like 'Rolling In The Deep' and 'Set Fire To The Rain', Adele has since admitted she is in love after starting a new relationship, and has promised never to write another record about a break-up.
Jennifer Lopez enjoyed a seven-year marriage before it was announced in June 2011 that the couple had decided to separate. The 'One The Floor' singer and Latin pop star Marc, who are parents to twins Max and Emme, have continued to work together on reality show Q'Viva: The Chosen since news of the split broke, and have been complimentary of each other in the press despite their separation.
The 'We Found Love' singer dated R&B star Chris Brown for around two years between 2007 and 2009, after initially keeping details about their private relationship under the wraps. The two recently reunited after making guest appearance on each other's recent singles. RiRi contributed guest vocals to Chris Brown's current single 'Turn Up The Music', while the 'Beautiful People' singer helped the Bajan star celebrate turning 24 by featuring on a remix of her 'Talk That Talk' album track 'Birthday Cake'.
After meeting in their early years on Disney talent show The Mickey Mouse Club from the age of 11 and officially became a couple in 1999. After being together throughout the formative parts of their respective pop careers the '…Baby One More Time' singer and 'SexyBack' star Justin eventually split in 2002.
The Saturdays' star and Dolce & Gabbana model David started dating in April 2011 but eventually split in February after a mutual decision after struggling to balance their relationship with busy careers. Despite the break-up David has since said the two remain friends and still talk regularly.
Despite having now reportedly moved on to a relationship with The Vampire Diaries star Taylor Kinney, Lady Gaga was widely believed to have dated DJ and musician Luc Carl for several years leading up to her crossover success in 2010. The 'Born This Way' singer's 2011 single 'You & I' is also believed to be about the former couple's relationship.
After meeting in 2009 while the 'Teenage Dream' singer filmed a cameo for Russell's comedy film Get Him To The Greek, Katy began a whirlwind romance with the British comedian that culminated in the couple marrying in India in October 2009 after getting engaged the previous year. However, the couple sadly announced their split after 14 months together at the end of 2011 after Russell filed for divorce from the 'Firework' singer due to irreconcilable differences.
Maroon 5 have one of frontman Adam Levine's failed relationships to thank for their huge success over the past ten years. The band's 2002 breakthrough album 'Songs About Jane' was said to have been inspired by The Voice US's break-up with the mysterious Jane, and produced huge worldwide singles like 'Harder To Breathe' and 'This Love'
Eventual Black Eyed Peas star Fergie briefly dated singer Justin Timberlake around 1997 but has since admitted she was embarrassed by their five-year age gap at the time. Despite the romance not lasting Justin still found time to feature on Black Eyed Peas' worldwide hit 'Where Is The Love?' in 2003.
